A number of factors have contributed to the change in the way municipalities and industrial waste are managed. One of them is the environmental hazard of an open dump. Recognising the importance and the need to protect the environment, the concept of sanitary landfill was introduced for the first time in Selangor in 1995 to accommodate the safe disposal of 3,000 tonnes of domestic waste a day from the population of Selangor Concessions Air Hitam Landfill = 3,000 Ton/Day (Full as 2006) Jeram Landfill = 1,500 Ton/Day Jana Landfill = 2MW of Electricity using landfill gas Waste-To-Energy = Incinerate marine sludge from ships |
